TPE overmolding generally uses a two-shot injection molding process,

Since any impurity in the TPE material can affect the transparency of the product, attention must be paid to sealing during storage, transportation, and feeding processes to ensure the TPE raw material is clean. Especially if the TPE raw material contains moisture, it will cause deterioration upon heating, so it must be dried. During injection molding, a dry hopper must be used for feeding.

Transparent TPE is used in appliance casings, handles, grips, etc. It exhibits a very good feel, is anti-slip and labor-saving, and has the characteristics of easy coloring and processing. It also offers a wide design space.

Secondary Molding TPR

Fix the already injection-molded rigid plastic part onto the overmolding mold, then at the appropriate temperature, inject and bond the soft TPE material onto the rigid part, and cool to obtain the product. The injection temperature for overmolding varies depending on the rigid material being overmolded.

SEBS is the hydrogenated product of SBS. SEBS has a saturated molecular structure, which leads to its unique characteristics. It has the necessary anti-aging, anti-yellowing, and other properties required for producing transparent TPE, and also contributes to excellent heat resistance and corrosion resistance. Thus, transparent TPE is produced.

Diene transparent TPE, diene TPE is mainly an isomer of natural rubber, so it is also called thermoplastic trans-natural rubber. Although its heat resistance and mechanical strength are not as good as rubber, it is widely used in shoemaking, sponges, optical films, and other industrial rubber products due to its good transparency, weather resistance, electrical insulation, and photodegradability.

Secondary Molding TPR

Common matching rigid materials are mainly plastics, but also metals and fabrics. TPE overmolding with fabric is mainly used in luggage products; like metal overmolding, it is generally false overmolding. True overmolding is more common in two-shot injection and bi-color injection molding, where the main material for TPE overmolding is plastic.
