In the elastomer industry, TPE usually refers to a composite functional material obtained by modifying SEBS.

Transparent TPE is used in appliance housings, handles, grips, etc., showing excellent hand feel, anti-slip, labor-saving, and easy to color and process, with broad design space.

The transparent grade includes transparent and translucent series, each with multiple hardness levels; excellent transparency; smooth and soft surface; good anti-yellowing performance, tear resistance, good tensile strength; environmentally friendly; suitable for various transparent series products.

Thermoplastic TPR materials

TPE elastomer soft rubber has excellent comprehensive properties and is the most commonly used soft rubber material for two-shot injection molding, overmolding, and two-color injection molding.

TPE is used in overmolding, with TPE soft rubber as the outer covering layer.

To prevent TPE raw material contamination and residual old material or impurities in the screw and recessed parts, especially materials with poor thermal stability, all parts should be cleaned with a screw cleaner before use and after shutdown to ensure no impurities adhere.

Olefinic transparent TPE has good weather resistance and ozone resistance, so it is the fastest-growing type of TPE, mainly used as the primary rubber material in automotive and appliance fields.

Thermoplastic TPR materials

Common matching hard materials are mainly plastics, also metals and fabrics. TPE overmolding with fabric is mainly used in luggage products, similar to metal overmolding, generally false overmolding. True overmolding is more common in two-shot injection molding and two-color injection molding, where the main material for TPE overmolding is plastic.

Preheating the insert before overmolding helps improve bonding strength.

TPE is a classic aggregation-induced molecule, meaning it has no fluorescence in solution but strong fluorescence in solid state, so transparent TPE materials also have important applications in organic optoelectronics and other fields.

Since any impurity in TPE material can affect product transparency, sealing must be ensured during storage, transportation, and feeding to keep the TPE raw material clean. Especially if the TPE raw material contains moisture, heating will cause the material to deteriorate, so drying is necessary. During injection molding, a drying hopper must be used for feeding.
