TPE elastomer soft gel is used for secondary injection molding and overmolding.

Since TPE transparent material requires high light transmittance, the surface quality of the material products must be strictly controlled, without any defects such as streaking, pores, whitening, halo, black spots, discoloration, poor gloss, etc. Therefore, throughout the injection molding process, strict and even special attention must be paid to TPE raw materials, equipment, molds, and even product design.

Transparent TPE is used in stationery, sports equipment, etc., with good UV resistance, chemical resistance, and easy coloring and processing properties.

Thermoplastic elastomer TPR

Because TPE material has good anti-slip properties and excellent elastic touch, it can improve the touch feel and grip of products.


PP overmolding is a plastic with very weak polarity, very close to the polarity of TPE based on SEBS.

TPE is a classic aggregation-induced emission molecule, which has no fluorescence in solution but strong fluorescence in solid state. Therefore, transparent TPE materials also have important applications in organic optoelectronics and other fields.

Since any impurity in TPE material may affect the transparency of the product, attention must be paid to sealing during storage, transportation, and feeding to ensure the cleanliness of TPE raw materials. In particular, if TPE raw materials contain moisture, heating can cause deterioration, so they must be dried. During injection molding, a dry hopper must be used for feeding.

Thermoplastic elastomer TPR

Therefore, for overmolding PP, the most common TPE formulation can be used directly without adding additional polar modifiers.


The temperature in the feeding zone should be set quite low to avoid blockage of the feed inlet and allow entrained air to escape.

Transparent TPE, specifically thermoplastic elastomer, while TPR is translated from English, strictly speaking it is called thermoplastic rubber. This is the most basic difference. TPE is generally modified from SEBS base materials, while TPR is modified from SBS base materials.

Transparent TPE is used in home appliance shells, handles, grips, etc., exhibiting very good hand feel, anti-slip and labor-saving properties, easy coloring and processing, and has a wide design space.

To change the mixing state, the temperature in the transition zone should be set above the melting point of the masterbatch, so that the mixing state can be changed when using the masterbatch. The temperature near the nozzle should be set close to the desired melting temperature.
