Toys are items specifically designed for play, and one can also learn some knowledge from playing with toys. However, due to safety concerns with certain toys, many countries worldwide have established toy safety standards. Toys must undergo inspection and comply with standards, with marks indicated on the products; otherwise, production, sales, and import are prohibited. Most countries adopt the "International Toy Safety Standard" set by the International Council of Toy Industries.

As environmental requirements in the toy industry become increasingly strict, in addition to common ROHS and EN71 environmental standards, the EU REACH regulation's SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) list has expanded to 38 substances in recent years. Traditional toys often use PVC soft rubber as raw material, which often struggles to meet ROHS, REACH, and EN71 testing standards in terms of heavy metal content, phthalate toxic substance detection, and SVHC detection. TPR soft rubber complies with environmental standards and is a new eco-friendly material replacing PVC soft rubber. After years of research and development, Dongguan Juye Plastic Technology Co., Ltd. has developed a food-grade TPE/TPR specifically for children's toys.

TPR soft rubber is a type of thermoplastic elastomer, a composite functional material modified from SBS and SEBS base materials. Used in toy production and processing, TPR soft rubber materials for spray painting and screen printing typically have a hardness range of Shore 30~90A. The materials can be natural color, semi-transparent, or transparent, all offering excellent spray painting and screen printing characteristics.

Five Key Properties of TPR:

1. Excellent Coloring Performance.

Soft rubber toy products often come in bright and diverse colors, requiring high coloring performance from TPR materials. A qualified TPR grade should have good pigment dispersion and facilitate effective coloring, achieving vibrant and uniform color results!

2. Good Spray Painting and Screen Printing Performance

Most toy products require spray painting or screen printing. To achieve excellent results (paint not peeling off), the compatibility between TPR materials and inks/paints is crucial. Suitable paints and inks should be selected based on TPR characteristics.

3. Crack Resistance of Soft Toys

For very soft toys, appropriate TPR materials should be selected to prevent cracking after processing. Additionally, optimizing molding processes can reduce stress-induced cracking!

4. Environmental Performance

Although most TPR materials meet ROHS and EN71-3 testing standards, different countries or regions have varying requirements for toy testing. Some require the absence of PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons), NP (nonylphenol), etc., while others require compliance with REACH SVHC regulations. This necessitates considering these environmental requirements during TPR material compounding!

5. Other Requirements

Some toy products require high tensile and tear resistance, while others demand good resilience, etc. In summary, the most suitable TPR materials should be provided based on specific customer requirements.

Regarding material hardness, TPR offers materials with a hardness range of 0-100A for selection.

Regarding TPR processing, injection molding and extrusion remain the primary methods, with special TPR materials suitable for blow molding.
