Introduction to TPR Raw Material:
The application of TPR soft rubber material in the toy industry is becoming increasingly common. In the traditional application field of soft materials for toys, TPR material is gaining more consumer favor and trust due to its superior environmental safety and non-toxic characteristics.
Every industry has its corresponding standards, and the toy industry also has its specific industry standards. Moreover, different toy products have different requirements for the physical and processing properties of TPR soft rubber material.
Characteristics of TPR Thermoplastic Elastomer:
1. Color: High transparency, semi-transparent, white, black.
2. Environmentally friendly, halogen-free, non-toxic, odorless.
3. Passed tests: ROHS, FDA, PAHs.
4. Easy to process and color. Scrap material can be 100% recycled and reused.
6. Adjustable for long-term use temperature between 60-135 degrees.
7. Available in glossy or matte finish, with a smooth appearance and comfortable soft texture. Contains no moisture, can be used directly without drying, energy-saving.
8. Shock absorption, anti-slip and wear-resistant, UV resistant, chemical resistant, yellowing resistant, aging resistant, dynamic fatigue resistant, ozone and weather resistant.
9. Can be secondary injection molded, bonded with PS, ABS, PC, PP, PE, PA, etc., or formed independently. Replaces soft PVC and some silicone rubber.
Five Major Properties of TPR:
1. Excellent color matching performance.
Soft rubber toy products are mostly bright and diverse in color, requiring high color matching performance for TPR materials. A qualified TPR grade should have good pigment dispersion and facilitate better coloring, achieving bright and uniform color matching effects!
2. Good spray painting, painting, and screen printing performance.
Most toy products require spray painting, painting, or screen printing. To achieve excellent spray painting and screen printing effects (paint does not peel off), the compatibility between TPR material and ink/paint is crucial. Suitable paint/ink should be selected based on TPR characteristics.
3. Crack resistance of soft toys.
For some very soft toys, appropriate TPR materials should be selected to prevent cracking after processing. Additionally, optimizing the molding process can reduce cracking caused by stress shrinkage!
4. Environmental performance.
Although most TPR materials meet ROHS and EN71-3 testing standards, different countries or regions have varying testing standards for toy products. Some require no PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons), no NP (nonylphenol), etc., while others require no SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) as specified by REACH. This requires full consideration of these environmental requirements when compounding TPR materials!
5. Other requirements.
Some toy products require high tensile and tear resistance, while others require good rebound elasticity, etc. In summary, the most suitable TPR material should be provided based on the customer's specific requirements.
Regarding material hardness, TPR can provide materials with a hardness range of 0-100A.
Regarding TPR processing, injection molding and extrusion are currently the main methods, while special TPR materials can be blow molded.
