The FAQs about TPE materials
TPE is processed using overmolding injection bonding. Common products include handles, grips, electronic materials, etc.
TPE is a classic aggregation-induced emission (AIE) molecule, meaning it does not fluoresce in solution but exhibits strong fluorescence in solid state. Therefore, transparent TPE materials also have important applications in fields such as organic optoelectronics.
Transparent TPE specifically refers to thermoplastic elastomer, while TPR is translated from English and strictly speaking is called thermoplastic rubber. This is the most basic difference. TPE is generally formed by modifying the base material SEBS, while TPR is modified from the base material SBS.

POM overmolding over POM. Although POM has a low melting point of only 180°C.
Transparent TPE materials exhibit different product properties when used in different applications. Thermoplastic elastomer is also called TPE material. Transparent TPE not only has the processing properties of thermoplastic plastics but also the physical properties of vulcanized rubber. This is the so-called advantageous combination of plastic and rubber advantages. Transparent TPE is widely used in people's daily life and production.
To prevent contamination of TPE raw materials and the retention of old materials or impurities in the screw and attachment recesses, especially materials with poor thermal stability, it is necessary to use a screw cleaner to clean all parts before use and after shutdown, ensuring no impurities adhere.

The temperature in the feed zone should be set quite low to avoid blockage of the feed port and allow entrained air to escape.
To achieve the matte appearance characteristic of thermoset rubber, a rougher mold surface is required. Generally speaking, the rough surface produced by electrical discharge machining (EDM) of the mold cavity will produce an excellent workpiece appearance and make demolding relatively simple. Abrasive methods such as steam blasting, sandblasting, or shot blasting, as well as chemical etching, can also be used to produce surfaces with different gloss and appearance.
The thickness of the TPE/TPR overmolding layer. In most overmolding applications, a wall thickness range of 1.5-3.0mm will ensure good adhesion. If the TPE layer is too thin, injection molding is difficult, adhesion strength is low, and hand feel is poor. If the TPE layer is too thick, on one hand the cost is higher, and on the other hand it is prone to defects such as shrinkage and bubbles.
