The FAQs about TPE materials
TPE is processed by injection overmolding, commonly used in products such as handles, grips, and electronic materials.
The thickness of the TPE/TPR overmold layer. In most overmolding applications, a wall thickness range of 1.5-3.0mm ensures good adhesion. If the TPE layer is too thin, injection molding becomes difficult, adhesion strength is low, and hand feel is poor. If the TPE layer is too thick, costs increase and defects such as shrinkage and bubbles may occur.
Transparent grades include transparent and translucent series, each with various hardness levels; excellent transparency; smooth and soft surface; good yellowing resistance, tear resistance, and tensile strength; environmentally friendly; suitable for various transparent products.

The material gives products a comfortable touch, enhances grip, improves aesthetics, and adds value. Most products are exported to developed countries and regions such as the United States, Japan, and the European Union.
TPE overmolding, as the name implies, involves overmolding soft TPE material onto other materials.
TPE is a classic aggregation-induced emission molecule, meaning it has no fluorescence in solution but strong fluorescence in solid state. Therefore, transparent TPE materials also have important applications in fields such as organic optoelectronics.
Due to the high light transmittance required for transparent TPE materials, strict surface quality is necessary—no spots, bubbles, whitening, haze, black specks, discoloration, or poor gloss. Therefore, throughout the entire injection molding process, special attention and strict or even exceptional requirements must be given to the TPE raw material, equipment, mold, and even product design.

Common processing methods include one-step molding with a two-color injection molding machine, or using a standard injection molding machine with an overmolding mold for two-step injection molding. TPE overmolded products are typically handles and grips. TPE soft materials provide a special comfortable touch, enhancing grip and tactile feel.
When overmolding nylon with a standard injection molding machine for a two-step process, it is recommended to preheat and dry the nylon parts before overmolding, as nylon has strong water absorption and requires high molding temperatures. Preheating removes moisture and facilitates hot overmolding.
SEBS is the hydrogenated product of SBS. SEBS has a saturated molecular structure, which gives it unique properties necessary for producing transparent TPE—such as aging resistance, yellowing resistance, high temperature resistance, and corrosion resistance. These properties enable the production of transparent TPE.
Transparent TPE is used in appliance housings, handles, and grips, offering excellent hand feel, anti-slip and ergonomic benefits, easy coloring and processing, and a wide design space.
